One man is dead after a car crashed
through a barricade Sunday night and into the crowd at Cleveland's
annual Dancin' in the Streets event hosted by the Greater Cleveland
AIDS Task Force.
ABC affiliate News Chanel 5 reported
that Mitchell Andelmo died from his injuries. A second victim,
Constance Pokorny, remains in critical condition. At least three
others were injured.
“Mitch was amazing and we will always
remember him for his positive attitude and short shorts,” a
Facebook post reads. “We love you Mitch! Please keep his
girlfriend Constance in your thoughts, as she was hit as well.”
Police took into custody 35-year-old
Timothy Spock of Lakewood, whom they suspect was drunk and has three
prior arrests for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI).
“Everything that we've been told so
far, it was a tragic car accident,” Tracy Jones told 19
Action News. “Someone just wasn't paying attention and just
didn't acknowledge the gates that were blocking the entrance on the
street.”
“I think he hit the brakes a little
bit, but by then he was already plowing into people.”
