Brian Brown, president of the National
Organization for Marriage (NOM), believes that Chick-Fil-A President
Dan Cathy shows “love and respect for everyone.”
Brown appeared on former Arkansas
Governor Mike Huckabee's radio show to discuss next Wednesday's
Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. Huckabee
is organizing the event to counter the criticism Cathy has
received over his recent comments in opposition to gay marriage.

“August 1st we're
encouraging all our folks to get out there,” Brown said in
endorsing Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. “And it's going to be a
real show of support.”
“Every time the people in this
country have gone to the ballot box they voted to protect marriage as
the union of a man and a woman, even in more liberal states. And
people are sort of just tired of the idea that you have a man like
Dan Cathy or [founder] Truett Cathy, men that have stood up, done a
great job in creating a business, anyone who's eaten there knows
they're high professional, they show love and respect for everyone.”
Huckabee added that the company just
wants to sell chicken and “doesn't get into politics all that
much.”
Between 2003 and 2010, Chick-Fil-A gave
nearly $5 million to groups opposed to gay rights, according to
Equality
Matters.
