Darren Criss, who plays Blaine Anderson on Glee, has said his television romance with Chris Colfer has become a bit stale.

Season 3 of Glee ended with Colfer's Kurt Hummel headed to college, leaving his boyfriend Blaine behind.

That's just fine with Criss, who said the romance was in need of some “bumps.”

“Chris and I, we joke about how we're slowly becoming the old married couple. And it would be nice to have a little spice in there. I mean, the inherent spice is the fact that he's moving on a long-distance relationship. And there's a lot of things in that that inherently yield obstacles,” a bearded and bespectacled Criss said during the press room at Comic Con.

“It would be nice to have a few bumps and have them try and figure their relationship out,” he added. “Whether they stay together or stay apart, it's going to be a little bit more interesting than, 'I love you so much till I die.'”

Glee co-creator and writer Ian Brennan said that separating couples was a theme the show's writers wanted to explore.

“For some of them it's going to work, and for some of them it's not going to work,” Brennan said. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
