Kelly Clarkson, the first American
Idol, has once again shot down rumors that she is a lesbian.
The 30-year-old Clarkson talked to
Lucky magazine about her new boyfriend, Brandon Blackstock.
“Oh, there's all these rumors that
I'm a lesbian,” she
said. “I have a boyfriend now, Brandon Blackstock, my manager
Narvel's son, Reba McEntire's stepson? I just had my 30th
birthday and we went turkey shooting. It's what I wanted to do, so
we went.”
In an interview with UK's the Daily
Mail, Clarkson added: “Brandon is my manager's son. I've
known him for six years but he was married. Then, suddenly, there he
was at the Super Bowl and he was single.”
In February, Clarkson told UK's Now
Magazine that she's “not gay. If I was, I'd say, 'I love
women!'”
“That's why it drives me nuts. But I
feel like even if I did say it, people would be like, 'You're just
trying to do that to win the gay audience.'”
During an appearance last year on ABC's
The View, Clarkson said people think she's gay because she has
yet to marry.
“I'm from a small town so, like,
everyone's married with children or about to have children,” she
said. “So it's a little hard when you go home and people are like —
and that's why people think I'm gay – because they're like ‘Why
aren't you married?’ And I'm like, 'It doesn't happen for everyone
right off the bat.'”
