Tricia Helfer and Felicia Day are among
the celebrities joining the second season of Husbands, the web
series which looks at a newlywed gay male couple
Husbands, which
premiered online last fall, stars out actors Sean Hemeon (True
Blood) as Brady Kelly, an out professional baseball player, and
newcomer Brad Bell as Cheeks, an out actor. In season one, the newly
dating couple heads to Las Vegas to celebrate the recent passage of a
gay marriage law and wake up the following morning in a drunken
stupor to discover they are a married couple.
Alessandra Torresani (Caprica,
American Horror Story) plays Haley, the best friend.
Husbands is written and
executive produced by Jane Espenson, whose credits include Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, Caprica and the latest season of
Torchwood.
According to Entertainment
Weekly, the upcoming season, which premieres August 15, will
include a bevy of guest stars, including Tricia Helfer (Battlestar
Galactica), Sasha Roiz (Grimm), Magda Apanowicz (Caprica),
Aasha Davis (Pariah), Clare Grant (Blake Snake Moan),
Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), Amber Benson
(Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Emma Caulfield (Buffy the
Vampire Slayer) and Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse).
Espenson said she received an
overwhelmingly positive response from actors she contacted.
“My expectation was that I was going
to be calling in favors, so I reached out to people I'd worked with
and loved and knew were fantastic. Every one of them was eager to do
it, but not just as a favor. They actually wrote back and said,
'Read the script, want to be involved.'”
Bell described the show's second season
as “a commentary on television and what is considered entertainment
and the double standard of certain groups of people.”
