Frenchie Davis, a contestant on the
first season of NBC's talent contest The Voice, is talking
about her lesbian relationship.
The 33-year-old Davis discussed her
relationship for the first time in a wide-ranging interview with the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“I wasn't out before the
relationship, but I wasn't in,” she said. “I dated men and
women, though lesbians weren't feeling the bisexual thing. Now I'm
in love with a woman I think I can be with forever.”
Davis, also a semi-finalist on the
second season of Fox's American Idol, appeared in the Broadway
musical Rent and several touring productions, including
Dreamgirls and Ain't Misbehaving. Her first single,
Love's Got a Hold on Me, from her debut album will be released
this summer.
She will take the St. Louis Pride Fest
stage on Saturday.
“I love the gays,” she said. “The
gay community is the most loyal fan base. Whenever the opportunity
presents itself, I jump at it.”
In a tweet to her nearly 32,500
followers, Davis messaged: “well I guess the cat's out of the bag …
or should I say closet? ...”
