Ricky Martin has responded to a comic's
suggestion that he is abusing his children because he is in a
relationship with another man.
Venezuelan comic Carlos Sicilia tweeted
to his more than 39,000 followers: “Prison NOW for Ricky Martin and
his partner and for all gay couples raising a child in this way.”
Without mentioning Sicilia's name,
Martin responded on Twitter in Spanish: “If you're proud, I
recommend you love the solitude; the proud are always left alone for
fools.” (“Si eres orgullose te recomiendo que ames la soledad;
los orgullosos siempre se quedan solos por pendejos.”)
Moments later, quoting Rodney King, who
accidentally died this week, he added in English: “Can we all get
along?”
Martin, 40, is raising twin sons Matteo
and Valentino. He appeared with his sons and boyfriend Carlos
Gonzalez in a cover story for the April issue of the Spanish edition
of Vanity Fair. The cover included the headline, “Ricky
Martin's New Life, and the quote, “I am dad and I am mom.”
