Nene Leakes of The Real Housewives
of Atlanta posed for the NOH8 Campaign during Los Angeles Gay
Pride 2012.
The 44-year-old Leakes tweeted on
Saturday to her more than 766,000 followers: “Headed 2 The LA Gay
Pride Festival!! Where my gays @?”
Leakes began to transition last year
from reality television personality to full time actress when she
landed her recurring role as Coach Roz on the Fox musical-comedy
Glee. This fall, she'll play Rocky on the NBC comedy series
The New Normal, which
revolves around a male gay couple (played by Andrew Rannells and
Justin Bartha) trying to start a family and the surrogate mother
(Georgia King) who comes to their aid.
On her
role, Leakes told The
Huffington Post: “I'm
Rocky, one of the gay guy's assistants. I take it very personal,
honey, if you talk about my gays, honey. Only I can talk about them
and I'm fabulous.”
“This is very
fitting for me because in my real life, you don't mess with my gays,
honey,” she said, snapping. “I don't play that.”
According
to StraightFromTheA.com,
Leakes stopped by the NOH8 Campaign booth at the festival to pose for
photographer Adam Bouska. The NOH8
Campaign is the silent protest which raises awareness and funds
for gay rights causes, including ending California's 2008
voter-approved gay marriage gay, Proposition 8.
