Opponents of gay marriage have jumped
on an ad for a fundraising event for the Obama campaign featuring
Sarah Jessica Parker.
In the ad, which was posted on the
Obama campaign's official website, Parker praises Obama for his
leadership.
“OK, the guy who ended the war in
Iraq, the guy who says you should be able to marry anyone you want
and the guy who created 4 million new jobs. That guy – President
Obama – and Michelle are coming to my house for dinner on June 14,”
the Sex and the City star said in the 30-second ad. (The
video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit

“[Obama] is now in favor of
redefining marriage so that it can be any union at all – which is
to say, he is in favor of abolishing any publicly normative
definition of marriage,” said
CatholicVote's Carson Holloway at the official blog of the
National Organization for Marriage (NOM). “If 'you should be able
to marry anyone you want,' then you should be able to marry someone
who is already married, you should be able to marry your father, your
mother, your sister, your brother, whoever.”
“Taken as stated, the president's
position, proclaimed by his actress-spokesperson, is to personally
advocate for polygamous and even incestuous marriages,” Holloway
added.
