Jillian Michaels covers the new issue of People to discuss motherhood and life with her partner.

The 38-year-old Michaels, who, after appearing on NBC's The Biggest Loser, was dubbed TV's toughest personal fitness trainer, talks about Lukensia, the 2-year-old daughter she adopted from Haiti, and Heidi Rhoades, her longtime partner and the birth mother to their infant son, Phoenix.

The adoption process took years to complete but Lukensia came home in May, the same week Rhoades gave birth.

Michaels told People that she is focusing on her family: “I don't even answer email. I don't have time to care about anything else. I want to be really present and enjoy all the nuances of their growth and development. I don't want to rush any of it.”

It is the first time the fitness guru has spoken publicly about her relationship. Previously, Michaels has only said that she'd dated both men and women.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Michaels and Rhoades are seen hanging out in a bed with Lukensia and Phoenix. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
