Betty DeGeneres, Ellen DeGeneres' mom,
is featured in a video promoting a campaign in support of Parents,
Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) anti-bullying
efforts.
“The consequences to victims of
bullying can be immediate like low grades and high drop out rates,
while other effects like depression, the potential for drug and
alcohol abuse and in some cases self harm, can last a lifetime,”
DeGeneres says in the ad. “As a proud PFLAG mom, I am happy to be
taking part in Care with PRIDE.” (The video is embedded in the
right panel of this page. Visit
our video library for more videos.)
Johnson & Johnson is donating $1 to
PFLAG's Cultivating Respect, Safe Schools for All Initiative for each
coupon/rebate redeemed from its Safe
Schools Action Pack, a minimum of $200,000 and up to $300,000.
Walgreens is supporting the campaign by
setting up Care with PRIDE retail displays in 500 stores across the
country.
The campaign will be promoted at over
40 Gay Pride festivals.
