A gay Astonishing X-Men wedding
and an upcoming coming-out-gay DC Comics storyline has caught the
attention of One Million Moms, the same group which called on
JCPenney
to fire Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson because she is
openly gay.
In Astonishing X-Men #50
Northstar
proposes marriage to this boyfriend Kyle and will marry in the
following issue, to be released June 20. DC
Comics has said a coming out gay storyline will feature a prominent
character.
“Children desire to be just like
superheroes,” the
group wrote at its website. “Children mimic superhero actions
and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as
possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, 'I want a boyfriend or
husband like X-Men?'”
“This is ridiculous! Why do adult
gay men need comic superheroes as role models? They don't but do
want to indoctrinate impressionable young minds by placing these gay
characters on pedestals in a positive light. These companies are
brainwashing them into thinking that a gay lifestyle choice is normal
and desirable. As Christians, we know that homosexuality is a sin
(Romans 1:26-27).”
“These companies are promoting a
premature discussion on sexual orientation,” the group added in
urging members to protest the companies.
