Bryan Fischer has accused President
Barack Obama of attempting to turn America into Sodom and Gomorrah,
media watchdog RightWingWatch.org
reported.
On his AFA-sponsored radio show, Focal
Point, Fischer agreed with a caller who asserted that Obama was
“determined to make ours a nation of homosexuals, so I can only say
welcome to the United States of Sodom and Gomorrah,” a reference to
the president's recent announcement in support of gay marriage.
“This is a lurch toward Sodom and
Gomorrah. Because what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah is homosexual
behavior became normalized. It became something that was accepted in
that community. And it wasn't long then before males that came to
that city now were in sexual danger of being attacked, assaulted and
gang raped,” Fischer said, referring to a right wing interpretation
of the Bible story and ignoring that many theologians do not believe
the sin of Sodom was homosexuality.
“I'm absolutely, completely against
the normalization or the legalization of homosexual behavior.
Period. It's immoral. It's unhealthy. It's unnatural. It is risky
as injection drug abuse.”
Fischer added that it was especially
dangerous when a leader such as the president supports gay unions.
