ABC Studios will release the first
season of Good Christian Belles (GCB) on DVD just weeks after
its season finale, which aired on Sunday.
GCB: The Complete First Season
will be available on June 12.
In the show, Kristin Chenoweth, who
last year starred opposite Sean Hayes in the Broadway revival of
Promises, Promises, plays Darlene, the ringleader of a group
of uppity wives who confront Amanda (played by Leslie Louise Bibb,
Iron Man 2), a mother of two who after the death of her
billionaire husband returns to her Christian conservative Dallas
neighborhood.
One of the well-heeled gossipy wives,
Cricket (Miriam Shor), is married to Blake (Mark Deklin), a gay man.
Christian conservative groups protested
the show, originally titled Good
Christian Bitches, after the book on which it is based on,
as an attack on Christianity.
Bonus features include deleted scenes,
a blooper reel, and audio commentaries from cast members Bibb, Deklin and
Brad Beyer (who plays Jericho) and producers Bobby Harling, Gretchen
Berg and Aaron Herberts. Featurettes include Chenoweth, Shore and
the rest of the cast discussing why music is important to the series.
