True Blood star Anna Paquin says
her bisexuality is not made up.
The 29-year-old Paquin, who plays
Sookie Stackhouse on the increasingly gay-inclusive HBO vampire hit
True Blood, announced she's bisexual soon after she became
engaged to husband and co-star Stephen Moyer, who plays vampire Bill
Compton on the series.
“I'm sure for some people saying
they're bisexual feels less scary than making a statement that
they're gay,” Paquin told Zooey
Magazine. “For me, it's not really an issue because I'm
someone who believes being bisexual is actually a thing.”
She added: “It's not made up. It's
not a lack of decision. It's not being greedy or numerous other
ignorant things I've heard at this point. … For a bisexual, it's
not about gender. That's not the deciding factor for who they're
attracted to.”
Paquin
came out bisexual in a Give A Damn video to benefit Cyndi
Lauper's anti-homophobia group True Colors.
On choosing to come out now, Paquin
answered: “I'm not someone who endlessly talks about her personal
life for no reason, but obviously, as someone who identifies as
bisexual, those are issues I really care about.”
