Chris Colfer, who plays gay student Kurt Hummel on Glee, has said fans are disappointed to find out he's just playing a character.

In the Monday, April 9 episode of cabler Bravo's Emmy-nominated series Inside the Actor's Studio, host James Lipton talks to the cast of Glee.

In a clip from the show, Colfer talks about letting down his fans.

When Lipton asked Colfer to describe his character, Colfer answered: “What I think I love about Kurt the most is that he is himself despite having his world constantly tell him he should not be who he is. And it takes a lot of strength to be who is he and to wear those tight pants.”

“He's very, very different from me and I think that really disappoints a lot of people.”

“I can't tell you how many times I've met people like on the street and after like a minute of talking with them they realize he's not real.”

“You mean Kurt isn't?” Lipton asked.

“Kurt, yeah,” he answered, then joked with a wave of his hand: “Oh, I'm fake, too.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
