Husbands, the web series that
looks at a newlywed gay male couple, has been funded for a second
season.
Husbands, which
premiered online last fall, stars out actors Sean Hemeon (True
Blood) as Brady Kelly, an out professional baseball player, and
newcomer Brad Bell as Cheeks, an out actor. In season one, the newly
dating couple heads to Las Vegas to celebrate the recent passage of a
gay marriage law and wake up the following morning in a drunken
stupor to discover they are a married couple.
Alessandra Torresani (Caprica,
American Horror Story) plays Haley, the best friend.
Husbands is written and
executive produced by Jane Espenson, whose credits include Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, Caprica and the latest season of
Torchwood.
Season 1 consisted of 11 2-minute
episodes which garnered over 500,000 views.
A Kickstarter.com
fundraising campaign to bring the cast back for a second season
racked up nearly 90 percent of its $50,000 goal in only 5 days,
leaving little doubt that the series was set to return for more
laughs.
“America, will you marry us?” Brad
Bell says in a promotional video for the upcoming season. The answer
appears to be yes.
