Glee co-stars Naya Rivera and
Cory Monteith have signed on to host the Gay & Lesbian Alliance
Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards in New York City on March 24,
the group announced on Tuesday.
On Glee, Rivera, 25, plays
cheerleader Santana Lopez. Santana has started to open up about
being a lesbian in the show's current season.
Twenty-nine-year-old Canadian-born
Monteith plays student Finn Hudson on the show, often described as
the “gayest show on TV.”
Rivera hosted last year's GLAAD Media
Awards in San Francisco.
“I am here to tell you that playing
gay is good in every way,” she told attendees. “And that
hopefully the huge increases in gay and lesbian characters will lead
to more diverse and transgender-inclusive storylines.”
Also scheduled to attend are Ted Allen,
Ellen Barkin, Kim Cattrall, Laverne Cox, Dakota Fanning, Vinny
Guadagnino, Megan Hilty, Isis King, Carson Kressley, Padma Lakshmi,
Jay Manuel, Martha Plimpton, Thomas Roberts and Kim Wayans, among
others.
