Director Jane Pickett's short film The
Men's Room will debut at the 2012 Atlanta Film Festival.
In the 15-minute film, Thomas (played
by Russell Sams) is a young gay man considering public sex as an
alternative to a complicated romantic relationship. However, having
sex with a stranger is more labored than he expected when his
would-be anonymous sex partner turns out to be a cop.
At the movie's just launched website,
The Men's Room is described as exploring “the seemingly
unwelcome yet enduring pastime of public sex, a world of secrecy and
code lurking just the surface of normalcy.” And an “emotionally
charged short film dealing with explicit themes of male sexuality,
intimacy and the concept of public decency.” (A trailer for the
movie is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit
our video library for more videos.)
The short will premiere on Sunday,
March 25 at the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema at 4PM. Tickets can be
purchased at the
festival's website. The Atlanta Film Festival takes place over
10 days, starting on March 23.
