Wurzelbacher on Thursday refused to answer whether he stands by
anti-gay comments he made in 2009, calling it a “gotcha”
question.
Wurzelbacher on Tuesday won his Ohio
Republican congressional primary bid, narrowly edging out Steve
Kraus.
During an appearance on CNN, anchor
Zoraida Sambolin asked Wurzelbacher to explain his 2009 comments.
“I've had some friends that are
actually homosexual,” he told Christianity Today. “And, I
mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have
them anywhere near my children. But at the same time, they're
people, and they're going to do their thing.”
“Have you changed your positions on
this at all?” Sambolin asked.
“So this is TMZ, this isn't CNN, is
what you're saying?” Wurzelbacher asked.
“Of course, it's CNN. These are
things that you said, that I would like to know if you still stand by
them or if you have changed your positions on them,” Sambolin
responded. “Do you stand by these comments?”
Wurzelbacher accused Sambolin of
“trying to do a 'gotcha' moment.”
“It's quite obvious,” he said with
a laugh.
“I'm allowed to have an opinion as an
American,” Wurzelbacher said. “But it seems the left becomes
very intolerant when you have an opinion other than what they state.”
