Rick Santorum once described the
Democratic Party as being about “homosexuality” and “sex,”
media watchdog RightWingWatch.org
reported.
During a
2008 Q&A session following a speech to the Oxford Center for
Religion & Public Life, Santorum was repeatedly asked about
President Barack Obama's faith.
“[I]s there such [a] thing as a
sincere liberal Christian, which says that we basically take this
document and re-write it ourselves? Is that really Christian?
That's a bigger question for me. And the answer is, no, it's not. I
don't think there is such a thing. To take what is plainly written
and say that I don't agree with that, therefore, I don't have to pay
attention to it, means you're not what you say you are. You're a
liberal something, but you're not a Christian.”
Santorum, a vocal opponent of gay
rights, also described Democrats as being obsessed with sex.
“Woodstock is the great American
orgy,” he said. “This is who the Democratic Party has become.
They have become the party of Woodstock. They prey upon our most
basic primal lusts, and that's sex. And the whole abortion culture,
it's not about life. It's about sexual freedom. That's what it's
about. Homosexuality. It's about sexual freedom.”
“All of the things are about sexual
freedom, and they hate to be called on them. They try to somehow or
other tie this to the Founding Father's vision of liberty, which is
bizarre. It's ridiculous.”
