An online campaign is calling for Adam
Lambert to perform the National Anthem at the 2012 Super Bowl.
The fan “Twitition” (a petition
circulated largely around Twitter) argues that the Indianapolis
native would “captivate millions of hearts” if he were booked to
sing at football's biggest contest, which is being held this year in
his hometown.
“He should definitely perform in his
hometown at the SuperBowlXLVI on February 5, 2012,” reads
the campaign, which had attracted 666 signatures as of Wednesday
morning. “He is the consummate perfectionist & his musical
flawlessness will captivate millions of hearts.”
Recently, the Indianapolis Super Bowl
host committee invited the American Idol alum to join the
festivities. “Hey, @adamlambert! Will you be joining us in your
#hometown for Super Bowl XLVI?” the committee said in a December 19
tweet.
The National Football League (NFL) is
responsible for booking all of the event's entertainment.
Last month, Lambert released the track
Better Than I Know Myself, the first single from his
highly-anticipated sophomore album Trespassing, which is due
in March.
