Darren Criss is ready to succeed Daniel
Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business
Without Really Trying.
Radcliffe will end his run playing
corporate ladder-climbing J. Pierrepont Finch on January 1 and Criss,
who is best known for playing out-and-proud Blaine Anderson on the
Fox musical-comedy Glee, will make his Broadway debut in the
role two days later for a limited three-week engagement.
Criss, 24, is expected to miss an
episode and a half of season three of Glee for the production.
“Daniel gives an extraordinary
performance eight times a week and we knew finding someone to fill
his shoes would be nearly impossible,” director-choreographer Rob
Ashford told
Playbill.
“When we learned of Darren's dream of performing on Broadway we
knew we had found our Finch but presumed his Glee schedule
would eliminate any chance to work with him.”
“We are ecstatic and grateful to Ryan
Murphy and his Glee team at 20th Century Fox TV for
helping make both Darren's and our dream come true,” he added.
Tickets
for the production are now on sale.
