Eighth grader Grant Viola's 'Don't Say Gay' PSA has gone viral on the video sharing site YouTube.

In the 30-second video produced for a class assignment, Grant's younger brother slaps him across the face for using the phrase “gay” to describe falling off his skateboard.

“What was that for?” Grant complains.

“Don't say gay,” the little brother yells.

“It's mean and its offensive,” he shouts as he gets into his brother's face. He then slaps him across the face a second time.

“What was that one for?” Grant asks.

“For being stupid,” the little brother replies. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

The video, posted last September, has been viewed more than 300,000 times on YouTube.

Grant, now 15, told ABCNews.com that he received an A on the assingment.

“I saw the slap as meaning, wake up, America,” he said. “People can't help who they're attracted to, and that word shouldn't be used to mean stupid.”
