Singer George Michael has postponed the
remaining tour dates of his Symphonica UK tour after falling ill with
pneumonia.
According to the Vienna
Times, the 48-year-old Michael was rushed to a Vienna
hospital on Monday.
“It's with great sadness that
GeorgeMichael.com must announce the postponement of the remaining
dates on the Symphonica tour due to George's on-going battle with
pneumonia,” Michael's offical website announced on Friday.
“While George is receiving excellent
medical care and is responding to treatment and slowly improving, to
ensure his complete well-being, George's doctors have advised that he
cannot perform the rest of his Symphonica tour and that he instead
takes a full and compete rest.”
Hospital officials have refused to
comment on the Faith singer's health, but a hospital insider
told the Vienna Times that Michael's condition had worsened.
“I have not seen him myself but
cardiac specialists and internists are treating him round the clock,”
the unnamed insider said.
Michael announced his new symphony
orchestra-backed tour in May during a press conference at London's
Royal Opera House. He also announced he would be recording a new
album during breaks on the tour.
