Three gay couples are among the 11
marrying in New York on Friday – 11-11-11.
Over 600 couples entered the Crowne
Plaza in Manhattan's Marry Me 11-11-11 Wedding Contest on Facebook.
Winners will receive a dream wedding to take place on the century's
luckiest day for love.
Anthony and Bret from Wadsworth, Ohio,
Melissa and Sheila from Port Charlotte, Florida and Dennis and Joey
from Staten Island, New York will be married during a
non-denominational ceremony at Times Square. Officiating the
weddings will be Steve Ward, star of VH1's Tough Love.
“I'm honored to be a part of this
special day – the excitement of New York City and the romance of
this magical date provide the perfect setting for an unforgettable
wedding ceremony,” Ward said. “This Friday we'll celebrate each
couple's unique love story which serves as the foundation for the
lifetime commitment they are making to each other.”
The marriage of only one of the three
gay couples – Dennis and Joey – will be recognized by their home
state. Ohio and Florida ban gay and lesbian couples from marrying.
