Late night funnyman Conan O'Brien on
Thursday married a gay staffer and his partner.
The 48-year-old O'Brien taped this
week's show at New York's Beacon Theater to celebrate the show's
one-year anniversary on cabler TBS.
O'Brien's former gig on NBC, Late
Night with Conan O'Brien, filmed in New York City for 16 years.
The wedding was part of an effort to
show how things have changed in the Empire State during his absence.
Gay marriage became legal in New York in July.
Andy Cohen, the host of Bravo's Watch
What Happens Live, walked costume designer Scott Cronick down the
aisle.
“Scott, you are my everything. You
are my love,” a tearful David Gorshein vowed. “And I hope
everyone in the world can be lucky enough to find a love that we
share. Anyone in the world would be happy to wear one of your
designs, but no one is possibly happier than I am to wear your ring
and to put this ring on your finger. I love you so much, you are my
everything.”
“David, I have only one vow for you.
I vow to fill your every day with so much love. And cameras or no
cameras, David, I'm here today and I'm yours forever,” Cronick
vowed.
O'Brien was ordained through the
Universal Life Church on October 21 to perform the legal ceremony.
In a statement, the church said it “supports the rights of everyone
in America to be married in a meaningful way and enjoy the legal,
emotional and societal privileges that extend from matrimony.”
