Former Phoenix Suns CEO Rick Welts has
posed for the NOH8 Campaign.
Welts resigned from his post with the
Suns roughly four months after announcing he's gay. His last day on
the job was Thursday.
In an interview with gay sports website
Outsports.com,
Welts said he left the team to be closer to his partner, who lives in
northern California.
He added that he believes he'll keep
working in the sports industry.
“I have a strong feeling that I'm
going to be back in the [sports] industry with an opportunity that is
equal to the platform that I have as the president of the Suns,”
Welts told the site. “One thing that prevented me from taking this
step until this point in my career was the uncertainty of how
announcing I was gay would affect my future job prospects.”
The NOH8 Campaign raises awareness and
funds for gay causes, including ending California's 2008
voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition 8.
