Singer Cher on Wednesday defended her son Chaz Bono from Dancing with the Stars viewers who mocked his inclusion on the show.

On Monday night, ABC announced the 12 stars who'll participate on the upcoming 13th season of Dancing with the Stars, which premieres on September 19.

Author-activist Chaz Bono, the child of gay icon Cher and the late entertainer-politician Sonny Bono, and openly gay fashion expert Carson Kressley were included. Bono has legally changed his name and gender.

On ABC's announcement page, Bono's inclusion was ridiculed. The offended commenters wrote that “I just don't want that lifestyle choice continually flaunted in the media,” and “anyone that obese and physically grotesque is no picnic to watch trying to dance.”

Cher took to Twitter to message that she supported her son: “I support him no matter what he chooses 2do! God! Will there always be haters! It took COURAGE 2 do dwts! TG Chaz has an Unlimited supply.”

Moments later she added, “bet VAST MAJORITY of People will LOVE CHAZ on DWTS! & it took Fkg Guts 2! Chaz isn't exactly the 'Gotta Dance Gotta Dance' kinda Guy,” and “I think we can agree that Chaz has the biggest balls of anyone on DWTS.”
