During an appearance on the Nate
Berkus Show, Carlson Kressley talked about his strategy for
winning Dancing with the Stars.
On Monday night, ABC announced the 12
stars who'll participate on the upcoming 13th season of
Dancing with the Stars, which premieres on September 19.
Author-activist Chaz Bono, the child of
gay icon Cher and the late entertainer-politician Sonny Bono, and
fashion expert Kressley were included.
When host Nate Berkus asked whether
Kressley would be designing his own costumes, Kressley answered he
was looking forward to it.
“I got a letter from them saying they
really want your input. So, I was like, 'Yes!' 'Cause I don't want
them putting me in Wendy Williams' old stuff from last year.”
“So I had all these great ideas. I
was like, you know I want to look like Fred Astaire, who is so
polished and beautiful and kind of Ralph Lauren-y,” he joked. “And
then I was like, but I love sparkles! So, I'm going to kinda do a
sparkly Fred Astaire combo.”
“A gay Fred Astaire,” Berkus
commented.
“Yeah, yeah,” Kressley said, then
complimented Berkus: “That's a good handle. I'm going to write
that, a gay Fred Astaire.” (The video is embedded in the right
