Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene Fowler
on the HBO supernatural drama True Blood, has recorded an It
Gets Better video.
Preston is the latest True Blood
co-star to record a PSA for gay activist Dan Savage's It Gets Better
Project, which urges teens being bullied because they are or are
perceived to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender to hang in
there, because life gets better.
The 44-year-old Preston says she wants
teens to know that the bullying is temporary.
“You are surrounded actually in this
world by a much larger community who is made up of gay people and
straight people and bisexual people and transgender people. But I
think we're a community that's not really commonly brought together
because we have a certain sexual orientation. We're a part of a
community that's humane, a part of a community that accepts people, a
part of a community that loves people. And will love you for who you
