Two-time Olympian Johnny Weir popped in
at designer Chris Benz's New York City apartment on Saturday's
episode of cabler HGTV's My Favorite Place.
The 28-year-old designer who interned
with Marc Jacobs and worked at J. Crew before launching his own
collection in 2007 showed off his 1,200 square foot, 1 bedroom
Manhattan apartment on the episode.
“There's a lot of the same themes
between what I do in fashion and also for my home in terms of color
and proportion and kind of this playful eccentricity which is a
common thread throughout all of my collections, as well,” Benz
said.
The episode also included a surprise
visit from Weir, whom Benz called “a staple of the apartment.”
“You're almost like a China doll
tchotchke for this apartment,” Benz said.
“Well, that's what I try to be
everywhere,” Weir replied.
“I know,” Benz said.
When asked about the apartment, Weir
said: “The thing about your house that I love is that whenever
anyone comes over you feel right at home. You have your tchotchkes
and your priceless artworks and everything. But you come over and
you feel, Oh, I can sit down here. I can run around here. Tara
[Modlin] can fall down over there.”
“I mean, that's what's cool about
it,” he added.
The second season of Be Good Johnny
Weir is set to air later this year on all-gay cabler Logo.
