Celebrity conservative Ann Coulter has joined the advisory council of gay GOP GOProud and been given the title “gay icon.”

“I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud's Advisory Council,” Coulter said in a statement announcing her ascendancy, “and look forward to being the Queen of Fabulous.”

“Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud's leadership,” said Christopher Barron, chairman of GOProud's board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and apologist – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”

Barron was referring to Coulter's headlining of the group's gay GOP festival Homocon 2010, at which Coulter told the group that they had no right to marriage because they are “not Black.

Also advising the group are Margaret Hoover, Grover Norquist, Andrew Breitbart, Liz Mair, Chuck Muth, Lisa De Paquale, Christian Josi, Roger Stone, Andrew Langer, Kathryn Serkes and Bob Carlstrom.
