Rutina Wesley, who plays Tara Thornton
on HBO's vampire drama True Blood, reaches out to troubled
LGBT teens in It Gets Better video.
In season four of True Blood,
Wesley's Tara is involved with Naomi (Vedette Lim), a cage-fighter
from New Orleans.
In her 47-second video, Wesley tells
gay teens considering suicide that they are perfect.
“We all know that bullies suck and
high school sucks, but it eventually gets better,” Wesley says.
“Remember, you're perfect just the way you are.”
“And believe
in yourself, because I believe in you. And know,
that you're worth it,” she adds. (The video is embedded in

Wesley joins castmates Alexander
Skarsgard, who plays vampire Eric Northman, and Kristin Bauer, who
plays vampire Pam Ravenscroft, in
recording a video for gay activist Dan Savage's It
Gets Better Project, which urges teens being bullied because they
are or are perceived to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender to
hang in there, because life gets better.
