Actor Chris Colfer, who plays gay
student Kurt Hummel on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, is unsure
why he was nominated for an Emmy in the comedy category.
Speaking
with TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Colfer said he loved Kurt's
journey in season two.
“I loved it,” Colfer said. “His
journey completely surpassed last year. Last year was all about him
accepting who he was. And season 2 was more about everyone else
accepting him for who he was. I couldn’t be prouder and happier to
be playing this character. He’s so inspirational to everyone,
myself included.”
Kurt, however, continued to be bullied
this year by closeted football player Dave Karofsky (played by Max
Adler). Colfer agreed that Hummel's storyline during both seasons
was more drama than comedy.
“It’s funny when I have nominations
in best supporting actor in a comedy and I’m never funny,” Colfer
said of his 2010 Emmy nomination. “People I’m usually nominated
with are all pranksters and jokers, and I am not funny. I cry in
every episode.”
Nominations for the 63rd
Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on July 14. The show,
to be hosted by Glee co-star Jane Lynch, will take place on
September 18 and televised on Fox.
