Actor George Takei has taken on Tennessee state Senator Stacey Campfield's 'Don't Say Gay' bill.

The fate of the proposed legislation that would outlaw the discussion of sexual minorities in Tennessee's public schools before the ninth grade remains bottled up in the Senate, which has delayed a vote on the measure four times.

Now that The Daily Show's Jon Stewart and the gay rights group FCKH8 have taken swipes at Campfield's bill, Star Trek alum Takei is taking a swing in a video released on Thursday.

The measure is “Premised on the misguided belief that by not talking about gay people, they can simply make us disappear,” the gay married Takei says in his one-minute-forty-five-second video.

“I'm lending my name to the cause,” he says. “Anytime you need to say the word 'gay' you can simply say 'takei.'”

“You can march in a takei pride parade.”

“And around the holidays, you can sing, 'Don me now our takei apparel,” he adds.

The video ends with the lyrics, “It's ok to be takei” and encourages viewers to visit the website itsoktobetakei.com.
