Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former president Bill Clinton, has joined her father in supporting gay marriage.

Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky attended a pro-gay marriage event sponsored by FriendFactor.org, a site devoted to allies of gay rights, Tuesday night in Manhattan.

The 31-year-old Clinton told the crowd: “I am proud to be here to support [FriendFactor]. I certainly believe that all of my friends, as Marc and I did, should have the right to marry their best friends.”

Clinton added: “I certainly believe that those of us who are straight cannot expect our gay friends to do this on their own. And I certainly expect our straight friends to help us achieve that for all New Yorkers, for all Americans, and for all the children that at least Marc and I hope to have someday.” (The video, provided by gay blog Towleroad.com, is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

Clinton joins her father in embracing gay marriage, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hasn't come around to join them.

In a recent interview with gay glossy The Advocate, she said she had not changed her position on marriage equality.

Also spotted at the event were actress Kristen Bell, Bravo's Andy Cohen, and former RNC chair Ken Mehlman, who announced last year that he's gay.
