ABC will broadcast a Barbara Walters interview with singer Elton John and his partner David Furnish on Friday's 20/20.

The couple entered a UK civil partnership in 2005 and welcomed baby Zachary on Christmas day.

On the ABC daytime talk show The View, Walters congratulated the couple: β€œI love Elton John and David Furnish. I'm very happy for them.”

β€œIn the interview, John and Furnish will discuss why they wanted a child, how they kept the baby a huge secret until he was born and how fatherhood has changed them both,” ABC said in a press release.

One way fatherhood has changed John is his endorsement of gay marriage. In 2008, the Rocket Man singer said he was satisfied with civil unions. But at a January concert to benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), a group formed specifically to support a challenge to California's gay marriage ban, Proposition 8, he railed against opponents of the institution.

It is the first major U.S. television interview since the birth of the couple's son.
