Bollywood actor John Abraham says it's
okay to be gay.
The model-turned-actor played a
straight man pretending to be gay in the 2008 romantic comedy
Dostana, which was inspired by the U.S. film I Now
Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, starring
Adam Sandler and Kevin James.
Indian audiences loved the film, making
Dostana the eighth highest grossing film of 2008.
In an interview on STAR World India's
Koffee with Karan, Abraham told his host, filmmaker Karan
Johar, that he was “accessible” to both men and women.
“I think you should spread love,”
Abraham said. “I think there's a large audience out there, men and
women, who come and talk to me, who feel I'm accessible, who feel I'm
available. And I really enjoy that space.”
When Johar asked, “Comment on the
following: bisexuality,” Abraham answered, “Two for the price of
one.”
“It's OK to be homosexual,” the
38-year-old Abraham also said on the program. “I am proud to have
done a film like Dostana and would be flattered if a
homosexual compliments me as much as a woman would.”
Abraham has been dating actress Bipasha
Basu since 2002.
