Directors Gretchen and John Morning
will premiere their documentary on Kathy Gilleran's search for her
missing gay son at New York City's Tribeca Film Festival, which takes
place from April 20 to May 1.
GONE follows Kathy, a retired
Ithaca, New York police officer, as she walks the streets of Vienna
searching for answers to what happened to her son Aeryn, who has been
missing since October 29th, 2007.
Unsympathetic Vienna police told Kathy
that Aeryn, a 34-year-old former Mr. Gay Austria, must have committed
suicide because he had tested HIV positive. They informed her that
he ran out of a men's sauna, the Kaiserbrundl, and onto the streets
of Vienna in an emotional panic and jumped into the Danube to his
death.
Kathy didn't buy the officer's version
of the events and began asking her own questions.
In
a 2008 interview with On Top Magazine, Kathy said she
believed the police and the owners of the Kaiserbrundl were hiding
something.
GONE premieres on April 23.
