Skating with the Stars celebrity
judge John G. “Johnny” Weir will kick off his Welcome to my
World book tour at the Columbus Circle Borders Books in Manhattan
on January 11 starting at 7PM.
According to the book's description,
the 26-year-old's memoir is more anecdotal than autobiographical.
“A collection of wildly entertaining
anecdotes and essays about everything from pop culture to skating to
fashion to Johnny himself,” the description reads. “Finally,
fans have the opportunity to get to know who Johnny Weir really is,
inside and out.”
But what fans might also discover in
reading the book is Weir's sexual orientation, which he has
steadfastly refused to discuss.
During an interview with The Age,
Weir told the Australian daily that he'll talk about his single
long-term relationship, which he described as a “miserable
failure,” in his upcoming book.
“But my biggest relationship … is
with myself,” he added.
“I don't live in a generation that is
defined solely by who they sleep with,” he said. “That is the
thing of least importance in my life that makes me Johnny Weir. I
don't have sex, anyway; I don't have time. I'm basically a monk.”
In a Christmas Eve tweet to his nearly
80,000 followers, Weir detailed the book's cover photo: “Catsuit by
@AsherLevine, heels by @LouboutinWorld and glove by @kerinrose. Hair
@EricAltSalons, makeup @joeycamasta!”
