In a video released Thursday, Seth
Walsh's mother, Wendy, talks about her 13-year-old son's death by
bullying.
In the video, a tearful Wendy reads the
suicide note her son left behind.
“Mom … I love you. Thank you for
having me. It's been a pleasure. I know this will bring you much
pain, but I will hopefully be in a better place than this shithole.”
The American Civil Liberties Union
(ACLU) released the video to coincide with a letter sent to the
Tehachapi Unified School District demanding officials address the
problem of anti-gay bullying.
“Seth's school did not care,” Wendy
says in the video. “If they did care about Seth, they would have
addressed the problem.”
Wendy added that officials at the
school dismissed her concerns.
“Wendy wanted to get the word out
about what happened to her son,” James Gilliam, the deputy
executive director for the ACLU of Southern California, told the Los
Angeles Times. “She was hoping to spread the word that there
are resources for people in need.”
The video ends with an emotional Wendy
describing how she found her son hanging from a plum tree. (The
