Four days after unplugging from social networks – including Twitter and Facebook – to raise money for an AIDS charity, celebrities are still digitally dead.

Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Alicia Keys are among the celebrities who gave up their online lives starting on December 1, World AIDS Day.

“@ladygaga is still dead,” Lady Gaga messaged her more than 7 million Twitter followers. “Text GAGA to 90999 and donate $10 to help children fighting HIV/AIDS.”

The celebrities have vowed not to awaken their digital selves until $1 million has been raised for Keep a Child Alive (KCA), the Brooklyn-based non-profit group co-founded by Keys that provides vital antiretroviral (ARV) therapy for children and their families with HIV/AIDS in Africa and the rest of the developing world.

Singer-actor Justin Timberlake gave up his digital life with a promotional video for the event.

“Hey, I'm Justin Timberlake. This is my last tweet and testament. That's right @jtimberlake is officially dead. I sacrificed my digital life in order to give real life to millions of people who are affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India,” he said. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)
