Apple Corp. has approved an anti-gay
app for download from its iTunes store, the Huffington
Post reported.
The Manhattan Declaration app is a
mobile version of the
manifesto unveiled last year in New York City by gay marriage foes.
James Dobson, founder of the anti-gay
Christian-based Focus on the Family, and Tony Perkins, president of
the Family Research Council (FRC) and a leading opponent of gay
rights, were among the 152 religious leaders who signed onto the
document at its unveiling last year.
The
Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) announced this week that Perkins'
FRC has been added to its list of known hate groups operating in the
United States. A claim the FRC, which hosts the annual Value
Voters Summit, has denied.
Dobson
recently stepped down from the helm of Focus on the Family to begin a
new ministry with his son.
The free app includes the 4,700 word
document, which users are asked to electronically sign, and a
four-question survey. One question asks, “Do you support same-sex
relationships?” Users who answer “yes” are told that they have
replied incorrectly.
