The stars of ABC's Sunday night drama
Brothers & Sisters join its crew in an It Gets Better
video to support troubled gay teens.
“We're here to talk about bullying,”
Sally Field says in the video.
“And like many of us, we've heard the
awful stories of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youth
who've been bullied at school. So much so that they feel they have
no choice but to take their own lives,” Matthew Rhys, who plays
Field's gay son Kevin on the show, says.
“But of course there is a choice,”
Luke McFarlane, who is openly gay, adds.
“The world is full of loving and
accepting people and you have something to offer it, but only if you
are here,” Ron Rifkin says.
The nearly 7-minute video also includes
the thoughts of the show's crew. (The video is embedded in the right

The It Gets Better Project is a
collection of inspiring videos that urge troubled gay teens
considering suicide to get help. The project raises funds and
awareness for The Trevor Project, the California-based non-profit
that runs the nation's only 24-hour, toll free confidential suicide
hotline for gay and questioning youth.

politicians who have created videos for the project include President
Obama, Secretary
of State Hillary Clinton, New
York Governor David Paterson, Fort
Worth Councilman Joel Burns, rocker
Adam Lambert and actor Neil
Patrick Harris.
