Darren Criss' cover of Katy Perry's
Teenage Dream is 'Glee's' biggest hit yet.
According
to Nikki Finke's Deadline
Hollywood, the track debuted at #1 in digital track sales
with 214,000 copies sold, making it the show's biggest hit yet.
Blaine, an out and proud student at a
rival glee club named the Dalton Academy Warblers, played by Criss,
sings the song to Chris Colfer's gay McKinley High student Kurt
Hummel. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)
Blaine's addition to the show created a
buzz among fans who speculated that his character would woo Hummel.
But his debut two weeks ago in the suggestively titled Never Been
Kissed episode presented Blaine as more a mentor than a love
interest for Hummel.
Glee ringmaster Ryan Murphy,
however, recently said he has yet to decide whether the pair will
become an item.
The
incredible buzz, positive feedback and record sales certainly helped
convince Murphy to sign Criss on as a series regular.
