Figure skater John G. “Johnny” Weir
is pictured dining with Hello Kitty in the December issue of Vogue
Nippon, the Japanese edition of fashion glossy Vogue.
In the photo, Weir and Kitty are seated
in a booth dining on grilled vegetables as Weir – looking quite
fashionable festooned in an abundance of silver jewelry – appears
distracted, yet composed. Kitty looks to be joining Weir in a glass
of red wine to boot.
Weir announced the photo spread to his
over seventy-two-thousand followers on Twitter: “Be sure to pick up
a copy of Vogue Nippon's December issue to see my spread! So
exciting!”
The photo spread comes just a week
after Weir announced that he had designed a t-shirt for The
Trevor Project, the California-based non-profit that runs the
nation's only 24-hour, toll free confidential suicide hotline for gay
and questioning youth.
The 3-time U.S. National Figure Skating
champion's “Army
of One” shirt comes on a purple backdrop in remembrance of gay tens
who have been bullied to death.
