Rocker Adam Lambert says his Glam
Nation show is all inclusive, not gay.
Lambert took to Twitter to respond to
protesters in Malaysia who demanded the cancellation of his Kuala
Lumpur performance because it “promotes gay culture.”
“Does my show 'promote the gay
lifestyle?'” he rhetorically asked his over 700,000 followers. “It
promotes living ANY lifestyle that includes the freedom to seek love
and intimacy. Gay, straight, bi, young or old. It's all inclusive.”
The American Idol season 8
runner-up, however, did agree to edit out a controversial kiss
between himself and his male keyboardist, Tommy Joe Ratliff.
“While I don't believe that my
glamnation tour is in any way offensive, I have agreed to make a few
minor adjustments out of respect for the Malaysian government,”
Lambert tweeted.
Holding signs that read “Not Our
Culture” protesters held a reportedly peaceful demonstration
outside the venue.
At a press conference before his
performance in Malaysia, the openly gay Lambert announced that he had
recorded a video for troubled gay teens considering suicide.
In
the video, released on Monday, Lambert tells gay teens to stay proud:
“It gets better, but it's up to you.”
