Grammy-winning Pink says she doesn't
want distinctions between gay and straight marriages.
The 31-year-old singer made her remarks
Saturday in accepting the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Ally for
Equality Award at the group's 14th annual National Dinner
at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in D.C. on Saturday.
“I don't want there to be gay
marriage,” Pink told the crowd. “I just want there to be happy
marriage and lasting marriage and healthy marriage.”
“And I look forward to a day when we
don't have to talk about it anymore,” she added.
“With all the strife and economic
woes in the world – religious intolerance, global warming – it
boggles my mind that we're spending time, energy and money trying to
ban love.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this

In addressing the crowd, pop
singer Ricky Martin said he's counting on the HRC to make the U.S.
more welcoming for families like his.
Pink
announced last week that the video for the just-released single Raise
Your Glass
will be set at a gay wedding.
