Pink, Ricky Martin and Bette Midler
were among the stars who attended Saturday night's fundraiser
benefiting the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest gay
rights advocate.
According to gay glossy The
Advocate, Martin welcomed guests as they arrived at the group's
14th annual National Dinner at the Walter E. Washington
Convention Center in D.C.
“This is very simple. It took me a
while but tonight I'm here and I want to say that I want to add my
voice to yours. And I'm so happy to be part of this community,”
Martin told the crowd, referring to his recent coming out gay in
March.
“It was an amazing night!” he later
tweeted in Spanish and English to his nearly 2 million followers.
Martin's inclusion in the fundraiser
was not previously publicized.
Openly bisexual, Grammy-winning Pink
was presented with the group's Ally for Equality Award, while
actress-singer Better Midler served as a presenter.
Pink
announced last week that the video for the just-released single Raise
Your Glass will be set at a gay wedding.
